Role
Colleen facilitates the Farm Incubation and Education through Land Based Skills Development (FIELD) Network, which is a national Community of Practice that brings together farm educators for webinars, resource sharing, technical assistance, field trips, workshops, and collaborative learning. Through this work, Colleen supports educators in teaching, learning, and exchanging experiences with one another, strengthening relationships and helping them bring new insights back to the beginning farmers they serve.
Background & Education
Colleen is passionate about racial justice, local and regional food systems, rural livelihoods, farmland preservation, supporting young producers, and organic agriculture. She believes that systems thinking and relational ways of being are essential to building a sustainable and just food system. Colleen holds an MA in Nutrition and Food Studies with a concentration in Food Policy from New York University, and BAs in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Food, Land, and Community, and Psychology from the University of Vermont.
In her free time, you can often find Colleen wandering in nature with a good book and a journal, or, when traveling, seeking out farm visits and museums whenever she can.
