New Entry pulled together some amazing authors and contributors from across the country to develop this Mentor Training Toolkit to support apprenticeship training programs to better engage their mentors and continually improve the experiential learning experience for their trainees. While agricultural mentors are likely experts in their field with many years of experience running an agricultural business, they still benefit from improving their skills and capacities as mentors, educators, and life-long learners.

Apprenticeship training programs that support mentors with professional development opportunities are in an excellent position to introduce new tools and resources to their mentors. Mentors will benefit from new resources and skills to address the many and nuanced aspects of running an agricultural business while providing a quality educational experience for their trainees.  As such, this Mentor Training Toolkit is chock full of case studies, tips and tricks, resources, and wisdom and experience from established mentors in the field.  Join us for a walk-through of the content and resources available in the Toolkit from the authors who developed this resource.

Speakers include:

Julie Sullivan, founding mentor of the Quivira Coalition's New Agrarian Program

Kathy Ruhf, Senior Advisor, Land For Good

Virginie Pointeau, consultant, Photonimbus Consulting, LLC

Jennifer Hashley, Director, New Entry Sustainable Farming Project

Alessandra Cancalosi and Sarah Laves, graduate students at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy
