Plumb Fruit Leather

Ingredients

  • 7 lb plums
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 400F. Wash, cut in half and pit the plums

Lay halved plums out on rimmed cookie sheets with cut side up and place in the oven for 20 min.

Blend plums in food processor and add sugar, add more sugar to taste if needed.

Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper covering the walls of the baking sheet as well. Pour the puree into the lined baking sheets to about ⅛ to ¼ inch thickness. (this should fill about 3 baking dishes)

Let dry in oven for as long as it takes for the puree to dry out and form fruit leather, about 6-8 hours. There are several ways to dry this out:

1. If oven has low heat, heat to 140F

2. If oven prheats to more than 140F, such as 170F keep the oven door open a bit

3. Use food dehydrator

Cut with pizza cutter to strips. Store in refrigerator or freezer
